The Data source For ballistic missiles proliferation in the middle east
|
Editorial
Missiles and missile forces are becoming more prevalent and more significant in the Middle East. In this boiling Zone of Conflict, asymmetric warfare is practiced through the whole of its gamut – from the low end of terrorism, to the high end of attacks by rockets, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles against population centers. Here, missiles are the true “Strategic power of the poor man”, and their threat is increasingly impacting on regional realities. If and when one of the radical regimes of the region builds a true strategic force of nuclear missiles, this might shape more than local regional power relationships – it might impact on global stability itself. The Middle East Missile Monitor (MEMM) is a web publication designed to assist Middle East watchers by clarifying select issues of missiles and missile proliferation in the region. This publication, established by a group of Israeli aeronautical engineers with wide experience in weapon development, will offer periodic, concise overviews of missile types, missile conflicts, missile proliferation and missile related arms control issues pertaining to Middle Eastern political and military developments. The thrust of these overviews will be contemporary and predictive; the past will be surveyed for the better understanding of the present, rather than for its historical value. MEMM has been established by Dan Hazanovsky, BSc Aero. Eng, President of Aerodan Systems consulting company, Azriel Lorber, PhD Aero. Eng, the author of several books on military technology, the most recent being "Misguided Weapons - Technological Failure and Surprise on the Battlefield", published by Brassey's US, and Uzi Rubin, MA Aero. Eng, former national program manager of the Arrow anti missile system. MEMM intends to solicit contributions from peers in the Israeli engineering and political science community and definitely solicits its readers' comments and suggestions. This endeavor is, for its establishers, an extra curricular activity, and the reader’s gain is our reward. Please do not hesitate to contact us on any relevant matter, and as often as you feel like. |
